This series of monotype prints are intrigued with the patterns and memories that seeds and plants carry, and how simplicity and diversity conspire to create life.

Gelatin plate printing is a technique which records patterns and textures of natural and artist made objects on the gelatin's delicate surface. This simple printmaking technique uses no press and is made with gelatin, heat and water, resulting in edges which are never the same. Shifting and changing with movement and time, the printing surface itself is a metaphor for nature's ever evolving landscape in which all living things adapt to survive. Each layer of print is lifted from a slightly changed surface where outer boundaries are constantly moving and cracking in the surface can happen at any time. The artist's response requires acceptance and a willingness to adapt to the possibilities that change can offer. The dialogue that occurs between these layers is an exploration of how nature's patterns are behind the design of all things, and how her matrix encourages flow, diversity and shapeshifting.
